Brief Observations on the New York State Courts

New York's Courts have no self-respect nor do they have any respect for the people they are supposed to be representing.

How can they be? The judges are political pets or appointees. The lawyers do as they please and even intimidate judges. The lowest courts are presided over by veritable village idiots because the law requires them merely to have a high-school diploma and no training apart from a very basic course provided by the state and which requires a mere 70% passing grade. One local town judge, Joseph Farrell of New Baltimore, New York, even stated that he never heard of anyone failing the test. That's odd in itself, considering that Farrell himself is a pipefitter!

Judges are supposed to be non-partisan but how can that be? The only way you can get a judgeship is to have the support of a political party -- they'll skin an independent alive if he tries to circumvent the old-boys and the logrollers.

Judges are supposed to defend the constitution and to fairly and impartially interpret the law. Yeah, right! Ever been to court? Ever wonder if the judge were dead, alive, comatose? Ever see the D.A. or A.D.A. or local attorneys making deals. Think the judge doesn't know what's going on?

Judges have turned into puppets for the legal services business and into collectors of indirect taxes for the municipalities and the state! They have corrupted their purpose and violated their oaths by becoming prostitutes for special interests and are legislating from the bench!

All the justice you can afford ... Those who have insurance or money will prevail. Forget justice and fairness. The system is rigged from the start and unless you have really deep pockets and an army of attorneys on retainer (the insurance companies) or are prepared to dump thousands without a guarantee of returns you haven't got the chance of an icecube in hell!

Sure, you can represent yourself but the deck is stacked against you and most judges have already decided you're ignorant, incompetent, and untruthful. If that's not enough, the lawyers have complicated the system to such a degree or play such idiotic games that the judge gets pissed off and does he take it out on the offending attorney (probably his golf partner)? NO! You'll be the scapegoat.

Justice? Forget it! Truth? Wake up! Honesty? Are you braindead? It's all about $money$ and power! The courts are just a way to get to an ill-gained end (and generally it's the poorest who pay and only the attorneys win ... no matter what happens!).
